Guidance for Supporting Students, Families, and Staff Post Election
While our nation continues to navigate the ongoing anxiety and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are also facing increased political and social unrest in response to racial violence which is exacerbating underlying angst and suffering. Our communities have become more and more polarized during this time. The vital role school social workers play in creating safe spaces where diverse perspectives are valued, encouraged and respected is crucial in mitigating the effects of this divisiveness.
Post election update
The election is over (mostly) and now it is time to look ahead and see what comes next. The Lobbyit team has put together a short document that summarizes the current state of play based on the election results. Though control of the Senate remains to be seen the biggest factor that will impact SSWAA members is likely to be whom is selected to run the Department. Lobbyit will provide additional updates as soon as we know more.

SHELF Features sswaa
Creating a dedicated resource center was the logical next step to improving the impact of their organization “School social workers had nowhere to go to search for or share best practices, resources, or tools that we deem helpful, that’s why creating a dedicated platform was a challenging, yet necessary, undertaking for us”, shared Michelle Alvarez, Board President.
