SSwaa's Statement regarding breonna taylor and black lives matter movement

On Wednesday September 23rd, the Kentucky Attorney General  announced that the Grand Jury ruled not to indict the officers involved in the death of Breonna Taylor. The lack of accountability in this case is a disappointment and unacceptable. SSWAA stands with the family of Breonna Taylor and the Black Lives Matter movement demanding justice.  SSWAA is committed in our fight to dismantle systemic inequities and racial injustices impacting communities of color...May we unite together in our perseverance to be transformational leaders in our advocacy efforts for social justice and equity.

The recent and repeated incidents of police brutality in the United States is a major public health problem which is shedding light on the longstanding impact of systemic oppression and racial injustices that are pervasive in our society. Given the immense harm inflicted on individuals and groups of color via prejudice, discrimination and oppression, our nation is at a turning point where individuals are called to evaluate the systems, practices and policies that perpetuate racial trauma and suffering, as well as engage in efforts to disrupt and dismantle systemic oppression.
