How Are School Social Workers Supporting Undocumented Students & Their Families?
Share |

The U.S. Department of Education is beginning a major initiative on how schools can support undocumented students and their families. They are hoping to roll out this initiative in early October. SSWAA staff has met with the Department to talk about the roles School Social Workers play with these students and families and some of the activities already underway.

Please help us by providing your experiences, model programs, materials and/or the names of students who may be willing to be "guest bloggers" for the Department..

This is a great opportunity to showcase the work of School Social Workers across the country, and we feel hopeful that School Social Workers will play a prominent role in the materials and information coming from the Department. Deadline: Friday, September 25.

Please provide examples of ways you and other School Social Workers in your district are already supporting undocumented students and their families.
Please provide any "model" programs that you are aware of in working with undocumented students and/or their families.
Please provide any materials that you are using that may be of help.
Please provide names and email addresses of any students who would be willing to be "guest bloggers" for the U.S. Department of Education
