I am honored (and a little overwhelmed) at my new position as President on the SSWAA board. Although I have been involved with SSWAA for some time, I have big shoes to fill! Michelle Alvarez became President during a difficult time in SSWAA history. Her leadership and vision for SSWAA moved our organization ahead. We are a national leader for school social workers, as well as for mental health services for students, considering the whole child and the importance of social emotional development. I believe full heartedly in the mission and vision of SSWAA and I hope to continue advocating for school social workers and our importance in schools. I look forward to working with the SSWAA board and staff, as well as collaborating and communicating with all of you! Please feel free to email me anytime as issues (and successes) arise! I look forward to all that we can accomplish!
