Spending Reduction Act of 2011
The House is also considering the proposed "Spending Reduction Act of 2011." This bill would roll back spending in FY 2011 to FY 2008 levels, and then in 2012, back to FY 2006 levels. Spending would be frozen at the FY 2006 levels until 2021. The bill will have extensive program eliminations, including repeal of authorization for 68 education programs, most of which are K-12 programs. It also prevents any funds from being spent to implement the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 – the whole Act, not just the health care sections, including the federal student loan program. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities has issued a brief analysis of the RSC proposal: House GOP Group Would Decimate Key Services.
