The Art of Advocacy for School Social Workers - 1.5 CEUs

Monday, February 19, 2018, 11:30am – 1:00pm CST online webinar

Presented by: Christy McCoy, MSW, LICSW

Description and Goals:

As leaders of our profession, this webinar aims to empower you to find your advocacy comfort level and to reach beyond it. During this presentation, school social workers will explore the necessity and professional value of macro level advocacy. In addition, members will receive tools to increase their knowledge about how to be an effective advocate for the children and families each of you serve whether at the district, county, state or national level. Finally, participants will develop an action plan to implement during this school year to educate community, state, regional and national leaders about the social, emotional, physical and cognitive barriers that impact a child’s academic attainment as well as the vital role that school social workers play as the mental health professionals on the educational team in reducing or eliminating the impact of those barriers.
