Bullying and Kids With Learning and Attention Issues: What You Need to Know - 1.5 CEUs

Tuesday, October 24, 2017; 11:30am – 1:00pm CST online webinar

Presenter by: Patricia Flanagan, LCSW, M.Ed.

Description and Learning Objectives:

While bullying may affect any student, kids with learning and attention issues are at greater risk. This webinar will review both well-known and lesser-known brain-based learning and attention issues and will explain why kids with these issues are susceptible to bullying.

School social workers will find out about common types of bullying at each grade level and how bullying can affect students’ learning, emotions and socializing. They will learn some practical strategies for supporting students with learning and attention issues who may be being bullied. Strategies for collaborating with other school professionals and parents will also be shared.

Attendees will:

1.       Understand why kids with learning and attention issues are more at risk of being bullied.

2.       Know what bullying looks like and how it can affect children academically, socially and emotionally.

3.      Gain new strategies to support students with learning and attention issues who are being bullied, with guidance on how to facilitate effective collaboration with other school professionals and parents.
